This is a photo of my first real ham shack sometime
1990, which was in an upstairs bedroom. Gear on show included
a Superstar and a Cobra 148GTL , Icom ICR- 7000 below on the desk
is an TS-930s, a FRG (Frog) 7 and my very first ham rig a TS-430s.
This is the second shack in Inverkeithing. This
was just after I became licensed in 1992. The big black box is
a Ham International 'Jumbo' CB base station and an old Kenwood
R-1000 receiver above it. The main rigs are the TS-930S and TS-430S.
the two rigs on the shelf are CB radios (2 mini Midland's and
unknown make thought to be a Black Star?). There is also an FT-23
2m handheld and a Bearcat 900 ???xlt scanner.
The original TS-430S radio. I still have it. A classic.
The first serious shack around 1994. This one had 'real'
antennas attached to it. One, a huge long inverted L style wire
250 feet long with a 40 foot vertical section attached to an 80
foot Elm tree at its far point. It was during this time I became
properly active as GM7NVA. At that time my friend Derrick Dance
GM4CXP would visit along with Colin Cook, later to become GM0VHR
and others. The shack became know as "The Eildon Bar"
because it doubled as the local pub since we were in the middle
of knowhere. Derrick is a well know key and can often get up to
speeds that only machines could match! He needed lubrication.
Hihi!
